If you can be anything, choose to be KIND

Hello College Square Families!

This year we are repeating our autism shirt design and selling the same shirt. Each shirt is $10 and orders are due on March 19th. We felt it was appropriate to give the students from College Square last year who already purchased shirts to still be able to wear them at our school-wide celebration. This year, College Square is celebrating Autism Awareness and Acceptance month by wearing our shirts on April 9th. Thank you in advance for supporting efforts to spread kindness and inclusion around autism awareness.

Give a Can if You Can

February 12, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

During the month of February we are celebrating acts of kindness. We are encouraging acts of kindness in the classroom, at home, and in the community.

For one of our acts in the community we are going to be having a food drive on Thursday, February 18th, 2021. We are asking for families to “Give a Can if You Can”. In order for us to do this we will continue to follow protocol during this pandemic to keep everyone safe. We are asking that children only come to school with what they can carry and that parents NOT come to the door to donate goods. The students will place their donations in a box in each classroom, which will be collected and sanitized. If a student forgets on Thursday and would like to bring something on Friday they are welcome to do so.

All items donated will be given to the Beaver County Food Bank. Thank you all so much for your support in helping our children see the many ways we can all show kindness to one another.

Sincerely,

Andrew Staszewski

School Supplies, Orientation Information

School Supplies

New for the 2020-21 school year, the College Square PTO will be providing the items from the official school supply list for all students (hybrid students and full virtual.) Hundreds of pencils, glue sticks, dry erase markers, crayons and more have been delivered to your students’ teachers at the College Square building. Thanks to everyone who helps with PTO fundraising and donations – you’re making this possible! In the past, we have offered to purchase school supplies for around $20 for Kindergarten and $35 for First and Second grade students. For those who have asked about donating to the PTO for this project, please use our PayPal link or feel free to send in a donation (check or cash) in a labelled envelope on your student’s first day of school.

Families participating in hybrid education are asked to send in either headphones or earbuds to plug into an iPad (not air buds or bluetooth) that will best suit your student. These will remain at school to be used during the in-school hybrid days. Please label these with your child’s name. It is optional for full virtual families to purchase this item.

Orientation Information

While not technically a school supply, hybrid families may wish to provide your student with a labelled water bottle as the water fountains have been disconnected. Check out the 20-21 School Year CS Student and Family Orientation Slides on College Square’s homepage for more specifics about snacks and treats, school meals, arrival and dismissal procedures, specials, recess, and more.

The College Square homepage has been updated with What to Expect documents for Hybrid and Virtual students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our principal, Dr. Hiles (hilesj@basd.k12.pa.us).

We look forward to supporting the College Square teachers and staff and looking for unique and different ways to stay involved with our students this upcoming year. We will be posting information about our upcoming September PTO meeting here and in the PTO Facebook group. Breathe deeply, and here’s to a great start to the school year!

Veterans Day Program 2019

November 8th, 2019 2:30pm
Information should have come home about the Veterans Day program on Friday. (Please see picture of note.)
Students are welcome to invite any special veterans from their lives to attend the program with them. Photography by James is donating their time and efforts to take a special picture of each child with their veteran. Due to this, we welcome veterans to the school at 2pm.

If anyone plans to attend, please fill out the bottom of the note coming home and return it to school so that we can communicate this to the teachers. We will also need this info to announce each veteran in attendance during the program AND for sign-in purposes.

If your veteran is unable to attend, you can email pictures to include in a slideshow. If you emailed Amanda a pic last year, you can send a message to Amanda or email her at the address below.

Please reach out to Amanda Cypher with any questions.
